Debut CD released...

Edel Fox and Ronan O'Flaherty who hail from Milltown Malbay, Co. Clare and Galway City respectively, have just released their self-titled debut album.
I first heard Ronan and Edel play together in Tigh Coili one Monday evening. That sound that we have heard since the 80's featuring concertina and fiddle was evident here again. We later played at a concert in the Town Hall Theatre in Galway and I was very taken with the maturity of their music. I have since played on this recording with them and greatly enjoyed their music.
I hope you enjoy listening to it.
Brian McGrath, April 2006
The CD will soon to be available from this web site.... for more information, track information and samples, browse the CD pages, click here.

From the opening notes of Martin Wynne's reel, I knew that I was about to experience something very special. The magical sound of concertina, fiddle and bouzouki that I have adored since hearing Noel Hill, Tony Linnane and Alec Finn on their 1979 classic recording is evident throughout. But this is not merely an exercise in nostalgia.

When you're a gifted musician, you don't need to overburden your music with superfluous layers, overdubs or an excessively glossy production. Edel Fox and Ronan O'Flaherty, two instrumentalists from counties Clare and Galway in western Ireland, have that kind of talent.
